INTERWOVEN

Coordinating Architecture With Its Environment

This project aims to create different kinds of public spaces interwoven together. With some more fluid links between the interior and the exterior, the boundary of the two is blurred to provide visitors with a coherent and permeable spatial experience. From the inside to the outside, from the ground to the roof, this project puts people, architecture and environment into an integrated unity. The curated publicity renders citizens observe diverse people and scenes from different viewpoints, meanwhile participating into the architecture before entering. Here, public spaces are not restricted to specific areas or dimension, they can be connected together and permeable to each other.

By splitting and reconnecting, the architecture rebuilds the relationship between the two main roads and attracts people to go through. Performing as a space activator in the city, this mix-used building embraces the overlapping of various public spaces to obscure the strict demarcation of different programs.

Integrating the architecture with the environment, different levels of spaces are being created. Program distributions are designed to allow several parts of the building to be managed separately.  With a more porous ground floor layout, the building returns plenty of open spaces to the city.
